Welcome to Tales By Tom. This is the seventh installment of Tom
Cagley Sr's short shory collections entitled,
“Travel At Your Own Risk.”
Story 13: The night chivalry could have died--- but didn’t. During
the trauma, that night begged a lot of questions --- like how far
would you go to protect an employee who got to the point where she
couldn’t help herself? How long would you stay with her to see she
made it back to her hotel? How many indignities would you endure?
Would you chase her up a frozen fountain? Would you rescue her from
a locked Central Park? Listen and see where I drew the
line.
Story 14: What happened to me on Cathay Pacific flight CX703 can
never happen again --- unless you are “packing,” as they say, and
have terrorism on your mind. I wasn’t and didn’t---I was just bored
out of my sleepless mind, and all my traveling companions were
asleep. It was a genuine treat flying that big a plane at Mach .849
at 35,000 feet. And landing in Bangkok? A snap --- my hands never
touched the controls and we still made it. Skill, like talent, will
out, I always say. What a trip!

See you in two weeks!
ah, adventures of the retailer/traveler... Never a dull moment.
I was seldom in a position for much chivalry, but I did have my VP/boss with me on MANY flights (some commercial, some private jet) where his \"needs\" far exceeded his large 6-2/300# frame. Perhaps the most dramatic involved a United gate chief who would not allow him to board the plane; UA poured coffee down him in a private boarding area, and put him on the next flight several hours later. About four hours after I had last seen him at the gate, he showed up at my home while I was having dinner with my family... I properly took him home and in the
caring hands of his spouse. He\'s now in that great bar room in the sky... having left many tales behind...
