Welcome to Tales By Tom. This is the fourth installment of Tom Cagley Sr's short story collections entitled, “Innocents All.”
6. Dogs in my life - I have always had dogs in my life, but not since Florida. Back in Baton Rouge, I babysit my last son’s dog, a well-trained Chocolate Lab, often, and I wonder if I really would like one of my own. It’s supposed to be good for old people, but since I’ll never be old enough for AARP, maybe I won’t make my dogs years either. Yes and no, yes and no, no and yes.
7. The Paper Boy - I did my stint as one on the ‘40s. I didn’t mind the deliveries but I hated the door-to-door collections every month. My oldest son, Tom Jr., went the same route (sorry for the pun) in a different city, except he didn’t have the collection burden. We had some memorable Sundays delivering papers in the time before the sun came up in Warren, Ohio.
